Week 1- Holistic Nutrition

Week 1 for me hasn't really produced alot of changes in my lifestyle and/or diet. For awhile now, I have been very interested in what foods really ARE good for us. We see alot of foods that are sold in stores and the general paradigm is that they are "good for you". But really, this couldn't be furthur from the truth. There are very few foods that are sold in supermarkets that have alot of nutritional value. These foods have been traveling often times cross country to make it to the store you shop in, and by this time these foods have lost a majority of their nutritional value. This is why it's so important to buy local organic foods if at all possible. They are generally more expensive, but I don't know if any of us have any legitimate reason to put anything above our health-not even money. I am looking forward to having ongoing discussions to people in my class to learn even more about the foods that truly are healing foods". I think it's so great that finally society is realizing how much "crap" there really is on the shelves of the stores we shop at, and why they would want to continue to put these foods in the mouths of our children and ourselves is beyond me. Organic foods are becoming even more accepted these days as the norm, and the more this happens, the healthier we will become as a society.
